Motion graphics asset package for a tech journalism video series with 280,000 subscribers.
Vox approached me with styleframes for their new show. The team wanted natural physical motion, alongside a nostalgic aesthetic that hearkened back to millennial internet culture. Matching the brief, I rebuilt their graphics in a physics environment called Newton, which adds a 2D live physics engine into After Effects. While in Newton, I had to calculate the proper physics to match the brief, which I was able to achieve through a mix of real-time physics and gravity, and cheating the animations by hand. I also locked the frame rate to ressurect that Windows 98 magic.
In addition to the hero graphic, I created a complete kit of lower thirds, multiple matte frames for b-roll and interviews, and an end credits sequence. The final challenge was repackaging all of this into a kit of accompanying 9:16 vertical assets.
For Vox Media's Code Conference 2024, I supported the motion design team, helping to lighten their workload as they rolled into Code 2024 and the following conference for the season.
The assignement revolved around QC and maintainence of a hero graphic and transitional graphics for the main stage speaker screen. On a live broadcast, a single misaligned frame or misspelled name is unforgettable — in a conference room, it's unignorable. The graphics ran clean on stage for the full conference and our work can be seen in the background of several viral media moments from the event.
Tilebar came to me with a pitch for 'The Completed', a simple presentation to combat cognitive overload. The challenge before me now was coming up with a motion philosophy that collaborated with that vision, while showing off the range of textures and colors available for their product. I aimed to give the rotational movements of the sliders a sense of balance and agility, with punches in and out that create an equilibrium between detail and context.
These motions must maintain their balance across three different scales of deliverable to fit three different contexts across social media and youtube advertising.
For The Recount, I edited a short-form social documentary profiling voting activist Debra Scott, produced in the fast punchy style of social documentaries and explainer contet. Working from raw footage, and cutting in template graphics assets produced by The Recount's in-house design team, I shaped the piece's pacing and structure, cutting with a momentum motivated at grabbing and holding attention in a busy social feed, while keeping the story and emotional beats intact.

I was brought in by Ketchup Files to edit runway and behind the scenes coverage for FW 26'. During the shoots I was set up at a cafe nearby editing assembly cuts to maintain an immediate turnaround pace. In addition to cutting together multiple shoots this way, for youtube and vertical social video release, I also animated a search bar graphic for use in some of the vertical content, borrowing cues from Apple's liquid glass design philosophy and recontextualizing them in Ketchup File's cutting edge style.
